Who fixes what

Avista and Kootenai Electric own the lines to your meter. Everything from the weatherhead and mast down to your panel belongs to the homeowner, and the utility will not reconnect until a licensed electrician repairs it and it passes inspection. We handle the repair, the permit and the reconnect coordination with the utility.

Tree limbs pulling the service mast off the house. Ice and wind loosening the weatherhead. Water in the meter base. Surge damage to breakers, GFCIs and electronics when power slams back on. A lost neutral, which makes lights brighten and dim and can destroy appliances.

We recommend whole-home surge protection and, for homes that lose power every winter, a generator inlet or standby generator. We install both, and we can quote them at the same visit.
